New forum for JoomlaJunkie – vBulletin

Well we did it, we jumped ship and went with a entirely new forum script. We were rapidly outgrowing Fireboard and needed something that was a little more robust.

You probably want to know how to log in so you can look around our new house: click here to find out!

Of course this entire system is new for us and will be evolving every day. If something does not work as expected or is broke, let us know. We try to catch everything, but it is a work in progress so far.

Getting IE6 transparency to work is now easier than ever before

Over the last few years I have learned how to live along with the dreaded IE6 browser and code in a way that keeps it happy most of the time and keeping bugs to the minimum. One area however that just keeps on frustrating me is the lack of transparency support for native transparent png in IE6.

Those of you who know Aurora, one of our most famous templates to date which uses extensive transparency, will be surprised to hear I am still struggling with png transparency, so let me explain…

Taking Joomla’s page suffix feature to new heights

This blog post is written in relation to this previous blog post: “Rational Magic and new menu system”

The page suffix feature in Joomla! is one that is often under-utilized. The idea behind page suffix is to give you additional control over an individual page of your website. An example of this could be setting a custom background image on a specific page. The way the default Joomla page suffix is setup, this wouldn’t actually be possible, but the theory is there ;0)

Problems with default page suffix in Joomla

The problem with the way the default page suffix is setup in Joomla is that when you add a custom page suffix for a page, some of the elements on that page get messed up (i.e. the content heading and what not). The other problem is that, in order to really take advantage of this, the page suffix actually needs to be set on a much higher element on the page, i.e. as a class on the body element. (more…)

Joomla template update: Rational Magic and new menu system

I am pleased to say that the latest version of Rational Magic (Joomla 1.5 template) is now available in the club. If you purchased an individual license of the template, you will soon receive an email with an update.

We have been hard at work on Rational Magic over the last month – doing some general refinements and adding some new features. The most exiting of which is our brand new menu system with the all new SuperDrop menu featuring a combined dropline and superfish menu!
