Joomla 1.5.14 Released

The Joomla Project announces the immediate availability of Joomla 1.5.14.

This release contains fixes for two material bugs that were introduced in version 1.5.13 and one low level security issue. Read the full release announcement here.

Plans for 2010 CMS Expo

Plans are underway for the 2010 CMS Expo to be held in Chicago, Illinois in May next year. Interesting changes for the event include the expanded line-up and targeted sponsorship opportunities. Will we see you there?

Based on fantastic input from the highly successful 2009 CMS Expo last May, the 2010 CMS Expo will feature an expanded line-up, created especially for web designers, developers, administrators and businesspeople. Drupal 6.13 and 5.19 released

Drupal 5.19 and 6.13 were released in response to the discovery of security vulnerabilities. There are no new features in these releases, but Drupal security team strongly recommend you upgrade your existing Drupal 5 and 6 sites.

Only fixes for security vulnerabilities and other bugs have been committed. New features are only being added to the forthcoming Drupal 7.0 release. Read the complete release announcement here. Joomla 1.6 module assignment from menu items – our thoughts and ideas

There has been a lot of activity on Joomla 1.6 lately and based on the version I tested a couple of weeks ago, the project is really progressing nicely.

One of the recent reviews of Joomla 1.6 had a couple of screenshots of the new features. One of those was of the new module assignment from a menu item.

Apart from the more obvious updates (like the much needed ACL, categorization, backend mvc, etc etc), I think the ability to assign modules from a menu item is one of the things I personally am looking forward to the most. The new layout lists modules on the right under the other params (see screenshot). This is fine when you only have a few modules, but what happens when you have more? (more…)
