20+ blogs about Joomla you should subscribe to
Before you start reading, this is a list of helpful blogs about Joomla, which means these blogs have more Joomla tips, tricks, tutorials etc than self-promotion of own products (IMHO). Fine line maybe, but an important one in this case.
Being fairly new to Joomla I’m constantly searching for online places to learn more and stay up-to-date. I get most of “what’s hot or not” via Twitter, but my favorite source of information and inspiration is Google reader.
I subscribed to quite a few good Joomla related rss feeds over the past year, but something was bothering me…surely this couldn’t be all active blogs about Joomla? Many of the blogs in my reader hadn’t been updated for donkey years, like nothing was happening in the Joomla sphere…or nobody blogged about it.
Update your RSS feed
After a bit of investigation, it turned out many of them ARE still active but changed the feed url without redirecting or notifying subscribers – with a loss of subscribers as a result. How could this have been avoided?
- Redirect your old feed url to the new and keep your subscribers updated.
- For long-term flexibility, use FeedBurner and make sure it’s the active feed on your site.
Blogs ABOUT Joomla!
After searching the web, receiving ideas from the Twittersphere plus going through the over 75 sources big
Joomlaworks Joomla! news, my hunt for helpful blogs
about Joomla (= blogs with more Joomla tips & tricks than self-promotion) is over for now.

Great list! I felt left out so I wanted to mention that we’ve started Joomla/Wed Dev tutorials and Joomla software reviews on our blog ;) http://www.joomlapraise.com/blog/
.-= Kyle Ledbetter´s last blog ..AdminPraise Lite 0.9.3 Released! =-.
Wohoo! That’s really great Kyle! I see you started on the 8th of October so it make sense that I overlooked your blog, since the last week I’ve only gone through the shortlist that came out of the massive list of blogs I had originally.
I might have been a bit heavy-handed on the scissors sometimes (cutting out blogs from the list above), but I’ll let somebody else write a blog post with a list of ALL Joomla blogs out there. :D
Thanks for including the Zuno blog!
Actually, it was Maribel’s post about ecommerce etc that made me decide to subscribe to your blog. :) (http://zunostudios.com/blogs/Are-Social-Communities-Hurting-eCommerce-.html) Keep up the good work!
She’s really the only reason to visit our site ;)
Thanks for the list. I’ve got them all in Google Reader now in a Joomla! folder.
Thanks Dusty, I do the same. Works like a charm. I was considering creating an OMPL file for everybody to download and import in their favorite rss reader, but somehow ended up not doing that. If anybody else would like to do it I’d be happy to add it to this blog post :)
@Tess – i figured, thanks! it’s a great list, added a couple i missed before to my reader as well
Tess, this is an excellent resource list. I am following new RSS feeds because of it.
I hope that we are considered in the future at s-go.net/blog/ We have been building/hosting and supporting Mambo/Joomla sites for 5 years. We write about Joomla and SEO with the potential client in mind. There is great stuff for developers as well. Thank you.
.-= Steve Gorney´s last blog ..Joomla SEO – Six Great Steps =-.
Hi Steve,
I really don’t understand how I could NOT include your blog on this list! It’s going up on the list tomorrow, for sure. You have a really useful blog with SEO tips and much more around Joomla. Thanks for letting me know – I really appreciate it!
Cheers,
Tess :)
Been waiting for this list for a while glad to see it finally happen. Not sure how you could possibly say I am “opinionated” ;)
.-= Brian Teeman´s last blog ..Joomla Hidden Secrets – the movie =-.
LOL! Yeah, I don’t know where I got that from… :D It’s a huge part of what I love about your blog, you don’t seem to hold back and at the same time you’ve done your research. Hats off to you Mr Teeman.
What a great resource page Tess! It looks like you identified all the really great Joomla! bloggers and I am very honoured to be listed on a page amongst them.
.-= JoeJoomla´s last blog ..This is how to launch a Joomla! User Group! =-.
You deserve it! Thanks for blogging good stuff!
I know I’ve most likely missed a few other great blogs ( like http://www.joomlapraise.com/blog/ ) so I’ve decided to keep on updating this blog post with what’s being recommended in the comments, which means this page will change as time goes by.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Tess
Thanks for mentioning my small blog :)
.-= Ahmad Alfy´s last undefined ..If you register your site for free at =-.
It was really cool finding a blog (yours) that I hadn’t seen before! I saw you started blogging about Joomla and I hope you keep up the good work. :)
As previously mentioned, this list will grow based on feedback and new discoveries so let me know if you find a hidden gem somewhere in the Joomla blogosphere and I’ll definitely check it out.
Thanks for including us in your list Tess. I’m going to blog about this right now and spread the word ;-)
Thank you for writing about us! Much appreciated. :)
I see the word is spreading on Twitter as well and I really hope that everybody on this list see the number of their rss subscribers increase.
Cheers,
Tess
Hi Tess. Would be grateful if you consider http://www.theartofjoomla.com/ worthy to add to the list. Thanks in advance.
ehrm, funny thing is that I just discovered that I already have that page open in my browser, but somehow missed to include it in the list. Of course The Art of Joomla should go on this list – it’s a very good resource. I’ll update the list in one go this week (have a few more that should be included). Thanks for pointing it out! :)
.-= Tess´s last blog ..Morph, Configurator & Vanilla updated to version 1.00RC4 =-.
:) S’ok. Thanks. Just wish I had more time to blog more. Great list – I’d missed a few of these. Might also be worth adding http://community.joomla.org/connect.html as well.
.-= Andrew Eddie´s last blog ..Introducing the new permissions in Joomla 1.6 =-.
The Art Of Joomla! One of the best for sure!
.-= JoeJoomla´s last blog ..This is how to launch a Joomla! User Group! =-.
After reading this usefull article how to use twitter. I even see some sens in twittering. Thx a lot.
Thanks so much for the mention, Tess!!! I am sorry I have not posted much lately, but the book is almost done… then I’ll be back to it!

Thanks for the very helpful list.
This is a very helpful list! Thanks.
I blog about Joomla! development topics at http://www.nodwell.net/site/in-dev. These are things I’ve discovered along the way as I work with Joomla! sites and particularly the source. I’m more comfortable with the php and mysql than the graphics, but I’ve turned to template making in my spare time.
.-= Jennifer Nodwell´s last blog ..Four New and Free Templates =-.
Nice, but what about blogs in another language for eg. blog.elimu.pl – about joomla! and some drupal.
.-= Paul´s last blog ..Grudniowe szablony cz.2 (Joomla!) =-.
Hello All
I am also created a blog in joomla , as clients never let me do my work.So i will too place my link for joomla blog here soon.
This is not a blog but a solid CMS website in joomla. You will not believe If i say that its is one of default template in joomla.
I customized it to full extend.
Thanks
Manonit
Hi thanks for the great info. This is very useful articles. Check out also Joomla Template.
.-= bads928´s last blog .. =-.
Would be nice if you’d consider including torkiljohnsen.com in your list. I guess it’s a tips & tricks blog, or a personal one perhaps.
Thanks in advance :)
Torkil
.-= Torkil Johnsen´s last blog ..Using MySQL Workbench to manage your Joomla component’s db schema =-.
That would be a shameless self advertise..just kidding :P, you got a nice blog though might be helpful to Joomla community :)
Thanks for valuable information. It’s what I am searching for. Thanks again.
I see that http://torkiljohnsen.com didn’t make it onto the list, but I’d like to suggest http://blog.bedre.no anyways, and see if that possibly makes the cut, even though it’s maybe got more Nooku than Joomla stuff in it :)
Great list! I love it!
But I’d recommend you to add one more blog page that comprises Joomla info http://www.cms2cms.com/category/joomla-articles/
