The Joomla! Award features 5 themes and 5 extensions finalists that have been selected by the Joomla! project representatives.

According to PacktPub, the following finalists were chosen based on: “a combination of methods like self nomination, popularity, and by judging whether they were the most interesting, creative or really useful projects for a specific purpose that they released in the past year”
