Hi Andy,
I’ve subscribed to your club for Morph and Morph News etc. and it’s all great. I just wanted to know if Morph News can be successfully installed and used on a Joomla site that is not running Morph?
If not, is there any possibility of you guys issuing a version that does not require Morph?
Lastly – if the answer to all of this is a no, can you recommend a news module that is close to Morph news that will run on a regular Joomla site?
Cheers
Jon
Hi Jon,
Yes, it will work, but there may be a few small issues since its really optimized for morph and not fully tested without it althouth I did some testing and add js fallbacks to add jquery etc if its not morph.
The biggest drawback is that you don’t get to take advantage of the performance options of morph. All the JS and CSS the module generates is packed and gzipped etc with the rest of Morphs files so will be better.
Our aim is to have it work without Morph, so please go ahead and use it and report any issues in the forum and we will help fix them and together we can make sure it does ;)
Cheers,
Andy
Hi Andy,
Thanks for your reply. I’ll do some testing and let you know if I encounter anything.
As for Morph – I’m already totally sold on it, and I’ll be working with it on future projects. I just wanted to know if I could use Morph News on existing installations where I may want to add this as a new feature or upgrade something that already exists without having to upgrade the whole site to run Morph.
And before you say it – I will take backups first before any installs – just in case.
I do hope you’ll announce it when you feel it’s stable for a working on a regular non-Morph site as well as a Morph driven one.
Cheers
Jon
Can I install Morph on Joomla_17 ?
Thanks
Hi Karlo,
Morph currently only works on the latest longlife version of Joomla (which is 1.5).
We are in the development of converting Morph to be on the Nooku framework, which means it’ll be compatible with higher versions of Joomla when it’s all done (no timeline yet, as we just went GPL and opened up Morph for community contributions with the development)
Keep in mind that Joomla 1.7 is another short-life version, see this for more info: http://www.joomlacommunity.eu/infographic-joomla-development-strategy-en
Cheers,
Tess
