New Joomla release: Creativa themelet for Morph
As you know from our previous blog posts here and here, Creativa is a community style themelet that will sport integrations with some of the leading Joomla! extensions – giving you a head start on your next community site.
Creativa will be released in phases, as each milestone is completed. Each release will be production ready and not depend on any of the other phases. This way you’ll be able to start using it right away, rather than wait till all the integrations are completed. Keep on reading for more important information.

This initial release is still beta, as there are still a number of cross browser issues (mostly in IE) that still need to be fixed, as well as extending the themelet to support the various other menu types.
Joomla extensions integration
Since we first posted previews of Creativa, we have received an overwhelming number of requests to add support for [insert popular Joomla extension name here].
We definitely take all incoming integrations requests as a good thing (since it means we must’ve done something very right with Creativa). However, it is also important you understand that while we would love to do integrations with all the leading Joomla extensions, these integrations take a lot of time to do properly (being the keyword here!) and there are only so many hours in the day.
Supported Joomla extensions
The extensions we have in mind have been categorized under: blogging extensions, commenting solutions, discussion forum extensions, social engines and ecommerce extensions.
The extensions listed on the integrations page are the ones we have chosen for the first round of the integrations. This list is not to say that we won’t be supporting other extensions, but rather that these are the ones we have decided to do first.
Once these are complete, we will go back to our members and get input about which extensions should be included in the second round. If you have a suggestion your would like to share in the mean time, please submit it on this forum post (members only).

Phase 1 Complete: Default Joomla Implementation
The first phase of Creativa’s roll out is the standard Joomla implementation. This does not include any third party Joomla extension integrations and can be used as is.
The plan is to release a stable version in each phase, thus allowing you to go ahead and start using it right away, and upgrade as the phases are released, rather than wait until the rest are complete.
Creativa is built on Morph and thus inherits all of the awesome features included in the framework, but there are 10 things in the demo that could easily go unnoticed, so make sure you view the Demo Highlights.

Hi Pierre,
Thanks for pointing the version out – I had forgotten to update the version number in the themelets xml. Don’t worry though, as it won’t have any impact on your site. I’ve adjusted it in my development version, so i’ll be adjusted in the next update.
As for the right module position, Morph does not use the left or right positions. You can read more about why we moved away from the default names here, http://www.prothemer.com/blog/research-and-development/exploring-alternatives-to-joomla-default-sidebar-module-position-names/ and here http://www.prothemer.com/blog/research-and-development/preview-sidebar-module-migrator-tool/.
As for seeing the available module positions, there is a module position reference of the available in Configurator (the “position map” button in the top shelf) and then there is also one that is specific to Creativa’s demo, which you can see here: http://www.joomlajunkie.com/demo/themelets/beta/creativa/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=96&Itemid=119.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Chris

Looks great! Cant wait to see it with Jomsocial integrated though! How are you getting on with that?
Thanks Jonny!
I’m actually in the process of completely rewriting the base JomSocial template (working closely with Azrul & his team), so Creativa’s integration will only be done once this is complete, as the new template will be much easier to style and customize :)

I loved this template the very moment i saw it
Was going to use it as my community website on http://inplaywepro.com
but its kinda difficult for me to move from SMF (simple machines) to joomla
I am making a new website on my localhost atm, using EASY PHP
hope to get it done soon and link you guys there “_”
Hi There,
I’m developing a community website… I love this theme, and am wondering how the jomsocial template is coming along. Is it likely to be available soon ?
best regards,
Aidan.
Thanks Aidan :)
After seeing some of the initial Jomsocial template work i was doing, I was contacted by Azrul and his team and commissioned to create a new base Jomsocial template. Since this is completely re-engineering the front code, I decided to hold off doing the Jomsocial integration for Creativa until the new codebase was complete.
You can track my progress here:
http://hybridthemes.com/jomsocial/frontpage/index.php?view=frontpage
At the moment that code is static xhtml & css. This week I finished the xhtml and css validation, all mac browser tweaks and next week I’ll be doing the windows based cross browser tweaks, as well as another round of performance optimization.
Once that is complete, I’ll start implementing the new codebase into Jomsocial.
I’ve learnt the hard way not to specify a timeline, as there are too many factors that come into play that are outside my control. At the moment I’m juggling Morphs ongoing development (lots of big things in the works there), along with providing support to our members and all the other day to day things involved in running the business.
That said, Morph is nice and stable now, so I’ll be able to dedicate more of my time to getting the Jomsocial template done :)
Keep an eye on my twitter account (@connectr) for updates ;)
Cheers,
Chris

OK, many thanks for your efforts. This looks like being *the* jomsocial-friendly template by a long shot. I’ll keep watching ! Aidan.
