The Morph toolset for Joomla – stable version just released

We are thrilled to announce that Morph, Configurator & Vanilla are all officially out of beta! It’s taken us just under a year to get us to this point and what an amazing ride its been!
We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us get to this point – from our early beta testers, to those of you who have been intimately involved in Morphs evolution – we really couldn’t have achieved half of what we have without you!
We have done a small bit of restructuring in the downloads, but you’ll find Configurator and the Morph template in “Morph Framework” and the themelets in, yup you guessed it – “Morph Themelets“. Any of the old url’s will automatically redirect, in case you have any of them bookmarked.
What’s changed since the last release?
Here is a list of what was changed since the previous RC4 versions:
Configurator component – updated to 1.00 Stable
- Tweaked the reset settings labels.
- Extended the backgrounds tab to have settings for both the body and html elements.
- Fixed the logo option conditionals.
- Removed the confirmation dialog when resetting settings.
- Removed the “check for changes” dialog and replaced with an inline alert.
- Fixed the issue with the fancy captions not reverting to off.
- Added a credits link to the toplinks.
- Added a help link to the toplinks (the LiveDocs will be online soon).
- Lots of general layout tweaks and refinements.
- Updated the themelet installer process to check for existing themelets and fixed an issue with old data coming through.
- Added target=”_blank” to the update links in the shelf and the assets view for themelets.
- Fixed a bug switching between themelets, where old values were not being updated with new values.
Morph template – updated to 1.00 Stable
- Fixed an issue with the IE6 logo option when logo type is set to inline image.
- Fixed the bottom shelf equal heights option.
- Updated the section blog layout.
- Fixed the logo url encoding issue.
- Updated the caption plugin to allow for alignment specific spacing.
- Added a global wrap option.
- Fixed the issue with the error.php and gzip.
- Tweaked the print view styling.
- Added option to toggle gzip on the frontend, using &gzip=on/off
Vanilla themelet – updated to 1.00 Stable
- Fixed the missing article icons (print, email, pdf)
- Updated the background settings defaults.
- Updated the themelets xml default settings.
What’s happening now?
We still have a long list of things we want to do on Morph and we will continue to refine and polish, but at the same time we are going to take a break from “innovating” new features. Not only to keep us sane (months of hardcore coding and late nights can really take its toll on a person!), but also to let us roll out a whole bunch of new themelet concepts (and we have many planned!).
As for the current themelets we are working on, so far we have Vanilla and Light Candy which are both stable, then Ultra Light Candy and Explorer are coming REALLY soon (like maybe today :P) and then Le Blanc some time next week.
As always, keep an eye on our twitter account to get the latest buzz and updates on Morph’s developments and themelet releases :)
That’s it for now :) Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good News! What about the Speed of Morph? Does Morph make Joomla slower on bigger Websites?
Hey Lupo,
Thanks for stopping by :)
Performance is and always will be one of the key driving forces with Morph. It already out performs many other popular Joomla templates, ranks really well on both Yahoo Yslow, WebsiteOptimization.com, as well as a number of other tests and this is only the beginning ;) We will continue to optimize and refine the framework until there is literally nothing left to do :)
As for how it compares on bigger sites, to be completely honest, your guess is as good as mine :P Since we’ve only just launched the stable version, there aren’t any specific case studies that i can refer you to.
The only guarantee i can give you is that if anything is discovered that causes any issues with performance, we will do everything in our power to rectify the issue asap.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Chris

I think it’s a good thing that the Morph template keeps advancing. Also think it’s best fit to it’s name by always and constantly updating. I’m sure more people will closely look at it in future with a more interested eye.
