We’ve just updated the downloads with new versions (1.00RC3) of Morph, Configurator and Vanilla. There are still a few general refinements left, but unless we discover any serious issues in next couple of days, we’ll (touch wood) be ready to release the stable version next week (yay!!).

Man not now! I’m still figuring out RC2.
ahaha joking aside, that was super quick update! Great job Prothemer.
You can’t go wrong with Moprh!
ps: luckily I used the custom.css/js approach, hopefully now it won’t be any problem to upgrade (it shouldn’t but, better safe than sorry).
Hehe, yup! Thats how we roll :P
Not sure if you noticed, but we added the option to include a script.php in your themelets folder, where you can put your custom js and it will be outputted just above the closing body tag (so no need to edit the index.php :P).
We will be adding an option to v1.1 which will allow you to add your custom css/js/php via a code editor tool in configurator and it will be stored in the database, so no need to backup before upgrading ;)
Oh and we fixed the javascript conflict, so JReviews & Morph play nicely together “out-the-box” :)

Oh i didn’t notice that!
anyway I think there’s a bug regarding this. Heads up to forum for details.
Hey Ajmal,
No probs – i’ll keep an eye out on the forum for your post :)

Chris´s last blog ..Magento Enterprise Edition 1.6.0.0-rc1 released
Hi Chris,
I’ve been looking for a CMS that offered the customization and power that J! and Morph in combination now provides, and I’m really looking forward to embarking on dev with the two tools in hand once a stable release is out the door and the help doc’s are ready to be devoured. Until then, one important question for you.
Could you please elaborate at some point (here or on the dedicated Morph sub-site…?) on the process this graphic designer would embark on to design my own themelets? I get that Morph allows one to customize the loaded themelet design, but how does one change / make a new themelet?
I know about the Vanilla themelet. But is it as straightforward as getting into an HTML file and substituting art, then going into a CSS file and tweaking there as well? Sorry to be so naive about this. I just haven’t been able to find anything on your sites that explains this process, generally or specifically.
This is the #1 thing I’ll need from Morph, no matter how powerful it is now, or may be in the future. Or to put it another way, I’m the opposite type of potential customer / member of Prothemer.com: I want to use Morph to build out custom client sites with my own themelets. I’ll probably never use a downloaded themelet designed by another for my clients, since.. well, we’re a design firm, and custom website design is one of the services we provide to them.
But, that said, it’s the simple things in life, like being able to control via a ModuleFX (?) suffix the radius of the rounded corner of a module makes me one happy person. Oh, the time the old school way took…!
By the way, you have impeccable design and typography skills — some of the strongest overall visual aesthetics I’ve seen in awhile on the net. And for what it’s worth, your themes are pixel perfect as well. The attention to detail is humbling and appreciated.
The one small gripe I have is on the Morph sub-site: the main body text is set to Helvetica Ultra Light…correct? If so, it’s incredibly hard to read. Nit-picky, I know.
Best of luck with the Morph 1.0 launch!
Cheers,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Big THANK YOU for taking the time and making the effort to write such a solid comment! Very much appreciated by the whole team here.
I know Chris is compiling an answer to your questions, addressing your points in more details than I can do, so sit tight. ;)
To give you a short answer: you ARE one of the type of users that we are developing Morph for! You’re perfect. The things you want to improve when it comes to your Joomla website development is what Morph should help you with.
The Morph framework is your starting point and for example aimed at saving you time on the repetitive work you (always) do in the beginning of a project. We’ve written a little bit of what can be done with Morph here: http://www.prothemer.com/morph/about-morph/what-morph-can-do-for-you.html
We will write comprehensive tutorials, make videos etc specifically for webdesigners/devs wanting to use Morph to build your custom client sites with your own themelets…we just need and want to get the Morph toolset stable first (days away now).
Any more thoughts, let us know and we’ll happily reply…and even take it on as a challenge if it’s not already included. ;)
Cheers,
Tess
Hi Matt,
Just sharing my thoughts as Prothemer user/customer, hopefully you take it as recommendation from 3rd party/end-user, rather than self-promotion (I took that word from Tess herself :P).
I am one of Morph customer/user for like a week and so. To be perfectly honest, Morph isn’t exactly what I imagine it was.
Turned out it does MORE than I expected. Of course that comes in a way that THEY (Prothemer) set it up, not the way I imagined it was. In other words, there is no shortcut for me to learn Configurator and Morph. So the only challenge for myself was to learn the method of using the tools (Configurator, Morph, themelets) and anything that comes after is only limited by my imagination and creativity.
With so many commercial components, template club I subscribed, I can rank Prothemer/JJ to share 1st place for best technical support together with JReview. While for template club, I’ll rank them 1st among all others, hands down.
I have no background in coding or programming at all, I picked up Joomla 1.5 specifically just last year. Even with such limited knowledge, Morph has benefit me a lot in terms of setting up faster, prettier and standard-compliant website. Looks like you are more experienced and skilled webmaker, so I am sure it will benefit you in all sort of ways!
This link provided by Anahita team for my pesonal matters really help me into investing with Morph sooner than later: http://blog.rmdstudio.com/2009/10/01/lose-the-feature-list-and-start-experiencing/
my $0.02 :)
ps: The way I see it, Morph is not only a superb platform in templating, but performs some basic function like Google Analytics right out the box, components-specific sidebars width flexibility and more! (i.e. very basic feature of MetaMod; better than nothing) that is not doable/available with other templates.
Matt,
I analyzed back your comment, looks like you could be new to Joomla as well. Welcome abroad and I’ll assure you, you’ll be thanking yourself later on for choosing Joomla and Morph :)
I also hope you have done your research on choosing Joomla as your perfect CMS. If J! does match all your needs then why not?
Sorry that I assume you were Joomla user, which explains some of my comments earlier are bit Joomla-specific.
Hopefully you get the rough idea and general inputs.
Hello, I just thought I’d post a comment and inform you that your website layout is really screwed up on the Firefox browser. Seems to work OK in IE though. Anyways keep up the great work.
hey there,
Were you talking about prothemer or joomlajunkie site?
Anyway, many thanks for your comment. Greatly appreciated :)
